Pew Pew Night is coming up!

It's an outreach night where you bring your friend to play Among Us on smartphones and compete for prizes! Come out, especially if you've never been to our church!  At the end of the night, I'll share a message about Jesus and give you some time and questions to talk about that will hopefully start conversations about God that will inspire you.

We need you to sign up yourself AND your friends on this google form!
Here are some details:
  • Please bring your own smartphone (android or iphone) with Among Us already installed and tested.  It takes a few moments to log in and stuff so get that done before you show up!
  • Set your handle and skin before we start.  There will be no changing after we begin.
  • Make sure your phone is charged before coming.  We have no chargers or battery packs.
  • We have a limited number of loaner phones.  In the sign up form, there is a spot for you to check off if you really need a smartphone, but it is strongly preferred that you have your own.
  • Do not bring laptops or ipads to play.  They are too large and easy for someone to look at your screen.
  • Speakers will be turned off.  Bring headphones if you want to hear sound.
  • Try to set up a group in the next few days to try playing!
Rules
  • Each lobby/server will have 10 players and physically sit in a 10 person circle.
  • We will play vanilla Among Us with no mods.
  • Each round will have a new semi-randomized group of people, but if you bring a friend, you will play with your friend for all the rounds.
  • If you're not playing and watching another group play, do not give information to anyone about their game.  You will be removed from the sanctuary and banned from your next game.
  • There will be 3 scored arounds, each round with a new map
  • There is an official scoring and rule system that we are following.
    • No teaming allowed
    • No talking during live rounds, or screaming if/when you die.  If you do kill someone, it's up to you to refrain from giggling so others don't know you did it!
    • No looking at people's devices.  Cheaters will be instantly banned.
    • Discussion happens IRL, not with the in game chat.  120 seconds of talking.  Voting 30 seconds.
  • Points are awarded as TEAMS rather than INDIVIDUALS:
    • Crewmates:
      • Vote out impostor: 2 points
      • Vote out crewmate: -1 point
      • Skip vote: 0 points
      • Win (voted out all imposters or completing all tasks): 4 points
  • Imposters:
    • Kill: 1 point - if you’re already a dead imposter, and a kill is made, you still get a point
    • Win: 5 points
  • Game setting
    • Imposters: 2
    • Confirm Ejects: Off
    • Emergency Meetings: 1
    • Emergency Cooldown: 30
    • Discussion time: 120 sec
    • Voting time: 30 sec
    • Player speed: 1.25x
    • Crewmate vision: 0.5
    • Imposter vision: 1
    • Kill Cooldown: 30 sec
    • Kill Distance: short
    • Visual Tasks: Off
    • Common Tasks: 2
    • Long Tasks: 3 (or 2)
    • Short tasks: 5
  • There are prizes?!  What prizes?  That's a great question!

Scoring scenario: Let’s say there are 10 players and 2 imposters.  They are:

  • Albert - Imposter
  • Bernice - Imposter
  • Carlos
  • Denise
  • Elvis
  • Franke
  • Gary
  • Helga
  • Ignatius
  • Jezebel
  1. Game starts and everyone is working and Albert kills Carlos.  Imposters Albert and Bernice get a point!
  2. Someone finds the body and calls a meeting.
  3. The people discuss and vote Denise out!  All crewmates LOSE 1 point and are at -1, no matter who voted for who.  Even Carlos and Denise, who are dead, lose a point.
  4. Game continues and Bernice kills Elvis.  Both Imposters get a point (now at 2 points).
  5. Someone finds the body and calls a meeting.
  6. The people discuss and vote Albert out!  All crewmates get +2 points, even the dead ones.  Crewmates are all at 1 point, Imposters are 2 points.  Note that there is no announcement or way to know that whoever was voted out is an imposter or crewmate.  We go until the game declares itself as over.  The refs/leaders will not announce who gets points until the end of the game.
  7. Game continues and Bernice kills Franke and Gary.  It’s 1 vs 3 now!  Both Imposters get 2 more points, making a total of 4 points.
  8. Someone finds a body and calls a meeting.
  9. The people discuss and vote Bernice out.  The crewmates win!  They get 2 points for voting the last imposter out and 4 point for winning.
  10. All Crewmates get 7 points and all Imposters get 4 points.

Notes:

  • Crewmates can win by finishing all the tasks.  It is in their best interest for the dead crewmates to finish all tasks rather than GG or rage quit.
  • There will also be semi random points distributed to INDIVIDUALS for special actions we see.  We can’t give you examples but if you’re active, you might get extra points.  Fake example, because we can’t watch everyone’s screen, we can’t do this one, “crewmate escapes a murder attempt” gets 1 extra point.  The system will work that we can observe certain things and award points so there is a wider range of scoring.
  • We won't announce points throughout the game because that gives away information.  Examples:
    • you won't know if you voted out an imposter or crewmate.
    • We won't tell people imposters get a point for killing someone because that announces that someone's dead.
    • Points will be announced at the end of the game.
